Josie Allocca, Celebrant
What some wedding couples have to say about my service
Josie was a wonderful celebrant. She was very easy going but very organised and professional throughout the whole process. Josie can help make your special day however you wish it to be. We would 100% recommend her to anyone looking for a celebrant.
Ayla The BrideJosie was absolutely amazing. She was professional and made us feel at ease on our big day. Thank you for sticking with us and helping us have the ceremony we wanted. Highly recommend Josie for your big day.
Renee The BrideJosie was a wonderful celebrant for our marriage at Parlour. She is well organised and has good attention to detail. Josie was generous with her time leading up to our wedding, in helping us plan the ceremony. She wrote a beautiful script about our love story and was great on our big day! Thanks for everything Josie! 🙏

Questions Couples Ask Me
Straight answers to what couples ask most about booking a celebrant in Canberra, the legal paperwork and the day itself.
How far ahead should we book a celebrant?
You need to book at least one month ahead of your wedding date, so we can lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage in time. It must be lodged at least one month, and no more than 18 months, before the wedding. I only do one ceremony a day, so it's worth getting in early for popular dates.
What documents do we need to get married?
Each of you needs evidence of your date and place of birth (a birth certificate or passport) and photo identification such as a driver's licence or passport. If either of you has been married before, you'll also need the divorce certificate or the former spouse's death certificate. If either of you has changed your name, I'll also need to see the change-of-name paperwork.
What is the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM)?
The NOIM is the legal form every couple must complete to marry in Australia. It has to be with your celebrant at least one month, and no more than 18 months, before the ceremony. We complete it together when we meet to start the legal paperwork, and I sight your identification at the same time.
How much does a wedding celebrant cost in Canberra?
My fee depends on the service you choose. My Wedding Service is $900 and covers everything from our first chat to lodging your paperwork, including your personal story and the rehearsal. My Alternative Wedding Service, a simpler ceremony, is priced by negotiation. Travel costs outside Canberra are negotiable, and the official marriage certificate from Births, Deaths and Marriages has its own fee. My Pricing page lists what's included.
What's the difference between your Wedding Service and Alternative Wedding Service?
Both are personal, legal ceremonies, and both include all the legal paperwork and lodging your marriage. My Wedding Service ($900) is everything: I write your personal story into the ceremony, attend your rehearsal, and we can meet and talk as often as you like. My Alternative Wedding Service (price negotiable) is simpler: a short, meaningful ceremony with a small number of guests at a location of your choice or my home, without the personal story or a rehearsal.
How do we book you?
Start with a free, no-obligation chat over coffee to see if we 'gel'. If you'd like to go ahead, we meet to start the legal paperwork, and a non-refundable $200 deposit at that meeting locks in your date. The balance is due two weeks before the wedding.
Do you travel outside Canberra?
Yes. I'm based in Gungahlin, ACT, and I'm happy to travel to regional NSW. Travel costs outside Canberra are negotiable.
Do we need a rehearsal?
A rehearsal helps everyone understand their role and keeps everyone calm on the day. It's included in my Wedding Service at no extra cost, unless it's outside Canberra, and I'll work with your planner and photographer so the ceremony runs smoothly. My Alternative Wedding Service doesn't include a rehearsal.
How long does a wedding ceremony take?
It's completely personalised to you. An Alternative Wedding Service ceremony usually takes about 15 to 20 minutes, and a full Wedding Service ceremony about 30 to 40 minutes.
Do you perform same-sex weddings, naming days and vow renewals?
Yes. With marriage equality, I'm happy to marry same-sex couples, and I also perform Naming Day and Renewal of Vows ceremonies, each personalised to you and your family.
Still have a question?
Ask me over a free, no-obligation chat. It's simply a chance for you to meet me before you decide.
